By Jason Cooper

America is a nation that is abundant with natural beauty. One good region to visit for a nature expedition is Cuchara Colorado. It is situated right in the heart of the San Isabel National Forest. Every year, it welcomes visitors from the United States and beyond.

The location is great for a wide range of outdoor activities. Its meandering rivers are excellent for fishing. There are nature trails that are good for hiking and mountain biking as well. If you are traveling in an RV, you might want to bring you camping gear as well. Alternatively, you may reside at one of the many cabins and condos available locally.

Majority of the cabins available can accommodate anywhere from 6 to 10 guests. They are built in an array of styles, so the only thing you need to focus on is organizing your finances. Some of cabins are built in the middle of the forest. The majority, however, are situated by the roads that lead to the key attractions.

Before you settle in your cabin, ensure everything you will need for a comfortable stay is available. You may find that some cabins lack entertainment facilities such as Satellite TV and internet. Nonetheless, many tourists prefer these types as they are more tranquil and offer the perfect getaway from city life. No matter the choice that you settle for, your cabin is bound to have a comfortable deck for great views and a fireplace to keep you warm at night.

There are many interesting sites that would be worthy of a mention. The Bishop Castle is one of them. It has been under construction for over sixty years. It is a castle that is a true testament of the perseverance of its founder, Jim Bishop.

Every year, visitors travel to the site to hold weddings by its lush outdoors and to admire the architecture and the surrounding environment. The castle is made up of bridges, soaring towers and a grand ballroom. In every sense of the word, it is a marvel to behold. The grounds are open throughout the year and the owners levy no charges for accessing it.

The Walsenburg Water Park is a top attraction as well. It is an all inclusive amusement area that consists of fountains, splash buckets and two giant water slides. It is a perfect setting for kids. The park is open every day except Mondays and Tuesdays.

To go back in time, you might want to try the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad. The railroad traverses many scenic areas and its tracks were commissioned in 1878. It is a site that has truly stood the test of time. The train served as a passenger liner for the local population from 1890 to 1950. Thereafter, it was used to transport cargo.

The last leg of your tour should be a trip to the local festivals. One great festival is the La Veta Oktoberfest held along the main street. It takes place each first Saturday of October. The festival is thirty one years old as of 2017. You can easily find accommodation within the town, so this should not be something to worry about.
